007 First Light Gadget Arsenal — All Gadgets, Upgrades & Unlock Conditions

Medium threat

Updated 2026-06-02

Gadgets are the backbone of 007 First Light's toolkit, enabling both stealth and combat approaches that define Bond's early field operations. Each gadget occupies one of two loadout slots and can be upgraded through mission completion and collectible discovery. This feature covers every gadget in 007 First Light, its baseline function, upgrade tiers, and the unlock condition for each level.

Smartwatch Scanner

The smartwatch scanner is the first gadget Bond receives and arguably the most versatile. Activating it pulses a 30-metre sonar wave that marks all enemies, cameras, and interactive objects through walls for six seconds. At base tier, it marks standard enemies only. Tier 2 (unlocked by completing Mission 04 with Ghost rating) reveals armoured enemies and security system nodes. Tier 3 (found as a safe reward in Mission 07) extends the duration to ten seconds and highlights safe code documents with a distinct yellow outline.

Explosive Pen

A disguised fragmentation charge that sticks to any surface and detonates remotely. The base explosive pen deals lethal damage in a 5-metre radius and can destroy wooden barriers and thin metal doors. Tier 2 increases blast radius to 8 metres and adds a concussive effect that stuns non-lethally — useful for Ghost-rating runs where kills must be avoided. Tier 3 (unlocked by collecting all Intel documents in Missions 05–08) adds proximity mine mode: stick the pen to a surface and it detonates when an enemy walks within range.

Grapple Hook

The grapple hook opens vertical flanking routes that bypass guard patrols entirely. Base functionality attaches to designated anchor points — marked by a subtle white icon on geometry. Tier 2 (unlocked via the Marrakech bazaar side objective) allows the grapple to pull unarmoured enemies off ledges, creating environmental eliminations that can be concealed as accidents. Tier 3 adds a short-distance zip-line mode that lets Bond slide between two anchor points at speed, useful for crossing open courtyards without touching the ground.

EMP Charge

The EMP charge is the anti-technology tool in the gadget arsenal. On detonation it disables all electronics within a 10-metre radius for eight seconds: cameras go dark, turrets power down, and armoured enemies wearing powered rigs are stunned for three seconds. Base tier covers the standard radius. Tier 2 (safe code reward in Mission 03) adds an overload effect that permanently destroys cameras and small electronics. Tier 3 (unlocked by completing all missions with at least Fighter rating) creates a lingering EMP field that lasts 15 seconds, blocking enemy radio calls in the affected zone.
